CONHECIMENTO DA EPISIOTOMIA RELACIONADO À VIOLÊNCIA OBSTÉTRICA ENTRE PACIENTES PUÉRPERAS

Objective: To know the perception of postpartum patients about episiotomy related to obstetric violence in a Basic Health Unit. Method: An exploratory study with a qualitative approach, conducted in a Basic Health Unit with 11 postpartum patients from June to September 2019, through a script of questions to profile the postpartum women and an audio-recorded interview. Result: From the interviewees' speeches emerged the following themes: pain, satisfaction and fear as the experience in relation to childbirth; physical and psychological trauma after episiotomy; postpartum recovery and opinion on obstetric violence. Conclusion: The results presented showed that most of the mothers had knowledge about what the procedure was, however they did not know about the risks, indications, advantages and disadvantages, and in those in which it was performed, half did not have their consent.
