The Progress in Advanced Hydrogel Polymer Electrolytes for ZIBs
In the context of the global energy transition, traditional energy sources are facing the dual challenges of resource depletion and environmental constraints. Lithium-ion batteries play a crucial role and are widely applied in different fields, but they have inherent safety concerns, such as the formation of lithium dendrites that can cause short circuits and the use of flammable organic electrolytes. However, such as dendrite growth, hydrogen precipitation reactions, and corrosive passivation of zinc anodes have severely limited the commercialization of zinc anodes. Zinc anode electrolyte is an electrolyte that regulates zinc ion transport, ensures more uniform deposition, and inhibits dendrite growth. It also inhibits side reactions and forms a protective film on the cathode material, making it more stable. This paper provides a full - scale and extensive exploration of the mechanisms and latest research progress of hydrogels in ZIBs, analyzing existing challenges and proposing development strategies. These strategies are expected to promote the advancement of high-performance ZIBs and promote the advancement of energy storage technology.
