Smart Homes and IoT: Targeting and Engaging Consumers in a Connected World
In the evolving landscape of the Internet of Things (IoT), smart homes represent a quintessential intersection of technology and daily living, offering unprecedented opportunities for enhancing household efficiency, comfort, and security. The study explores strategies for targeting and engaging consumers in the connected world of smart homes, clarifying the multifaceted aspects that influence consumer adoption and sustained usage of smart home technologies. This comprehensive analysis reveals the critical factors that drive consumer interest and trust in smart home technologies, highlighting the importance of personalized, context-aware systems that resonate with users' lifestyle needs and preferences. It also discusses the implications of our findings for manufacturers, policymakers, and researchers, it draws attention towards the need for developing consumer-centric approaches that prioritize ease of use, data security, and interoperability among IoT devices. The last part of the study suggests areas for future research that will look into how consumers are becoming more involved in the smart home ecosystem. One idea is to use AI and machine learning to make smart home systems more flexible and useful.
