Study of Sinusoidal Switching Angle-Based Asymmetrical Multilevel Solar Inverter

Multilevel inverters are well recognized for producing high-quality switched waveforms with reduced harmonic distortion compared to other conventional inverters. Their ability is to generate more accurate output waveforms at lower switching frequencies without distortion and has led to increased interest in recent years. In this paper, a review of a commonly used multilevel inverter scenario is conducted, with a focus on the impact of sinusoidal switching angle-based on total harmonic distortion (THD). From the three primary topologies-diode-clamped, flying capacitor-clamped, and cascaded H -bridge, the cascaded H-bridge was selected due to its requirement for fewer components and benefits. An asymmetric configuration was chosen for the analysis, with both experimental and simulation studies conducted on output voltages up to seven levels using PSIM software. Proper switching angles were maintained throughout the study. The research demonstrates that higher-level multilevel inverters can be produced using fewer H-bridge cells while reducing harmonic distortion. Experimental results validate the simulation results, confirming the importance of the mentioned system.
