Comparative Analysis of Selected Reduced Switch Count NPC Multilevel Inverter Topologies for Solar PV Applications
This paper presents a brief review of selected reduced switch count multilevel inverter topologies for Solar PV applications. MLIs have become popular due to their ability to provide an output having reduced total harmonic distortion (THD), switching stress, and lower electromagnetic interference. In this article, a critical analysis of the selected topologies has been carried out to evaluate their performance and implementation feasibility. Therefore, various MLI topologies were analyzed in the literature and the performance of some of them was verified using Matlab/Simulink at different loading conditions. To check the viability of the selected topologies, the nearest level control technique was used on account of simplicity. Furthermore, a comprehensive analysis is also carried out based on total standing voltage, component counts, and cost factors. Finally, the critical analysis of the selected topology is carried out in a graphical form for the application of solar PV system voltage.
