Improvements of a SI-Engine Generator to Use Bioethanol and Bioethanol-Water Blends
The research aims to study the performance and emission of a SI-engine generator, fueled with bioethanol and bioethanol mixed with water up to 30% compared with gasohol 91. This engine generator was tested with increasing main-jet diameters and compression ratios at 3,000 rpm and different loads. After adjusting for these factors, the engine performance with these fuels was found to be at its peak at 2.82 kW. The use of bioethanol and bioethanol mixed with water up to 30% was lower engine performance than gasohol 91. Bioethanol was higher carbon dioxide (CO2) and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions but bioethanol mixed with water up to 30% was lower CO2, CO, and nitrogen oxide (NO) emissions than gasohol 91. Outstandingly, bioethanol mixed with 10% water was more engine performance and less CO2 and NO emissions than gasohol 91 and bioethanol.
