Facial Recognition-Based Automated Access Control System

Facial recognition technology now days is used to identify or verify individuals based on their facial features. It works by analysing key facial landmarks and comparing them with a stored database of images. In this paper system based on facial recognition technology for secure and easy access control applications is proposed. The system uses a 12-volt solenoid lock, a relay module, and an ESP32-CAM module, wherein the integration and programming are done using Arduino IDE software. The ESP32-CAM module captures the facial images, then processes them to recognize the authorized people to allow or deny access. This method negates the importance of physical keys and cards, thus lowering the risk of lost or stolen credentials. Thus, recognition accuracy, response time, and reliability are a few of the bases for evaluating the performance of such a system, showing good potentials for practical applications in a variety of security-sensitive environments.
