Development of Composited Indices for Congestion Management in Low Voltage Distribution Network

This paper presents a comprehensive framework for managing congestion and voltage unbalance in the distribution network through the development of a composited indices that integrate thermal violation and voltage violation indices with the voltage unbalance factor. The composite indices identify and rank congestion points by combining multiple factors. The unbalance problem is investigated based on the integration of photovoltaic system and electric vehicles in low voltage network. In addition, this approach serves as a strategic guide for deploying battery energy storage systems, effectively reducing thermal and voltage violations while enhancing network stability and flexibility.

Abstract

This paper presents a comprehensive framework for managing congestion and voltage unbalance in the distribution network through the development of a composited indices that integrate thermal violation and voltage violation indices with the voltage unbalance factor. The composite indices identify and rank congestion points by combining multiple factors. The unbalance problem is investigated based on the integration of photovoltaic system and electric vehicles in low voltage network. In addition, this approach serves as a strategic guide for deploying battery energy storage systems, effectively reducing thermal and voltage violations while enhancing network stability and flexibility.
