Development of UWB Antenna for High-Speed Wireless Communication

This study outlines the development and examination of a planar ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna featuring a partial ground plane. The proposed UWB antenna has multiple square shaped radiators with the size of 0.5λg x 0.35λg. The proposed antenna structure is made of Teflon substrate and covers the operating bandwidth of 9.9 GHz (S<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">11</inf> ≤ −10 dB), covering from 2.5 GHz to 12.4 GHz. it boasts an efficiency exceeding 85% and achieves a peak gain of 5.1 dBi within the UWB operating spectrum while maintaining an omnidirectional radiation pattern. Additionally, a 3D model of car was used to examine the far field features of the antenna when it is integrated on a vehicle. The suggested UWB planar antenna exhibits excellent performance and aligns perfectly for multimedia and high-speed automotive communication applications.
