A Novel Nonomino Sudoku Configuration for the Solar Photovoltaic Array Susceptible to Partial Shadings

This study deals with the analysis and assessment of the influence of a diagonal shading scheme on the performance of the interconnected photovoltaic (PV) systems. It is observed that partial shading (PS) occurring due to multiple factors can significantly reduce a PV array's (PVA) power output. This is because such conditions cause mismatch in the row currents between PV panels, causing multiple peaks in their characteristics. The maximum power in a PVA can be achieved by reducing the mismatching power losses (MPLs), which may be caused due to naturally prevailing conditions, the most prominent and common being the PSs. A novel Nonomino SuDoKu configuration (NMSDK) topology for the TCT PVA is propounded, and the results compared with those of other nine PVA topologies of order 9×9. MATLAB/SIMULINK is used to evaluate the performance parameters for all the PVAs under diagonal shading pattern. The factors. GMPP, % FF, % MPL and efficiency are considered for examining and validating the performance of NMSDK PVA over others. This manuscript thus seeks to model, analyse, simulate, and evaluate the values of these parameters for all the nine PVAs under diagonal shading pattern. The results indicates that for the NMSDK PVA, the FF is 61.62%, and the efficiency is 12.07%, which are maximum in contrast to the other 8 PVAs and the MPL is 27.72% which is least when compared to the other PVAs considered in the study.
