Integrating Autonomous Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in Local Energy Communities

Autonomous electric vehicles (AEVs) represent a transformative technology that must be carefully considered in the design of modern energy management systems. Addressing the challenges associated with AEVs and their charging infras-tructure while leveraging the opportunities they present is crucial. In this study, we propose the integration of inductive AEV charging stations into multiple local energy communities, treating these stations as community members. To ensure fair benefit allocation, we employ a game-theoretic approach. Three operational scenarios are analyzed based on the available resources at the charging stations: (1) no photovoltaic (PV) generation or battery energy storage systems, (2) PV generation without storage, and (3) a combination of PV and battery storage systems. Charging station pricing is determined by the added value of integrating into the community energy model. The results highlight the potential of this approach to enhance decentralized energy ecosystems, promoting fairness and sustainability across all stakeholders.
