Log-Weighted Utility Method to Enhance Network Connectivity and QoS in 5G Networks
To address the growing need for high-data-rate wire-less connectivity, the fifth-generation (5G) cellular network plays a crucial role. 5G networks aim to support numerous applications with ultra-high data rates by maximizing device connectivity while ensuring quality of service (QoS) requirements are met. In this paper, we introduce a novel log-weighted utility (LWU) algorithm designed to enhance connectivity in 5G New Radio (5G NR) networks. We begin by framing the connectivity maximization challenge as a resource allocation problem, focusing on three critical parameters: bandwidth requirement, SNR, and the energy level of nodes. The goal is to optimally allocate resources to multiple users to maximize connectivity while adhering to QoS standards. We have conducted a simulation study to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm compared to the maximum rate (MR), simple additive weighting (SAW) methods, and the Optimal method. The simulation results indicate that our algorithm outperforms MR and SAW and closely matches the performance of the Optimal method with regard to user allocations, QoS selection efficiency (QSE), User Priority Satisfaction (UPS) ratio and fairness.
