Optical Sensing in Nephrology Non-Invasive Techniques for Accurate Kidney Function Analysis
The study introduces a non-invasive optical sensing technique to the field of nephrology that addresses the limitations of conventional invasive methods. This approach facilitates a more precise evaluation of kidney function. The proposed technique has the potential to evaluate tissue oxygenation and renal blood flow in real-time by combining a wearable device with photoplethysmography (PPG) and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). The system effectively reduces assessment time while concurrently improving patient comfort, as evidenced by preliminary clinical testing. Furthermore, the findings exhibit a strong correlation with conventional diagnostic methods and exceptional accuracy. The device, which has the potential to become a standard instrument in nephrology practice, offers a comprehensive assessment of renal function using robust signal processing algorithms and continuous data collection. The findings suggest that this innovative method has the potential to significantly alter the way kidney function monitoring is conducted, potentially leading to improved diagnosis and therapy for individuals with renal disease.
