Design and Analysis of a Compact Tri-Band CPW-Fed Antenna for WLAN/WiMAX Applications
This article designs a wireless local area network (WLAN) and worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) application microstrip patch antenna fed by a triple band coplanar waveguide (CPW). The designed antenna has a length (Ls), width (Ws) and height (h) of 40×24.8×2.0 mm3. The structure of this Antenna is compact allowing its integration into a microwave circuit. Antenna resonance frequency is (2.4, 3.5, 5.5 GHZ), omnidirectional radiation pattern. The values of the obtained VSWR are very close to the standard VSWR (unity) of each band respectively. All three frequencies show less than the -10 dB threshold input reflection coefficient which indicates that the antenna is suitable for use with a wide variety of wireless applications in general. The simulation results are compared with the performance of the antenna in the WLAN (2.39-2.56GHz) and WiMAX (3.43-3.63 GHz, 5.31-5.66 GHz) systems.
