Use of DHT11 Sensor and ESP32-Wroom Microcontroller to Monitor the Productive Performance of Isa Brown Laying Hens in a Farm in the City Of Parintins
In the contemporary panorama of poultry farming, technology has played a fundamental role in optimizing production and managing the welfare of birds, proceeding in higher productivity and quality indexes. In the municipality of Parintins, located in the State of Amazonas, the particular climatic and environmental conditions can represent significant challenges for egg production. In view of this, the objective of this article is to analyze data from two Temperature and Humidity Sensors (Sensor 1, Sensor 2) in Real Time installed in a farm in the City of Parintins in Amazonas". To answer the following questions: by implementing technology and monitoring the climate in farms, can we improve efficiency in egg production?. The methodology encompasses Quantitative Research, Qualitative Research, DHT11 Sensor Installation, Microcontroller ESP32-WROOM. The results show that after the installation of the IOT Sensors, the production of eggs increased, and there began to be an indication of temperature and humidity more defined. However, it is necessary to install fans to ensure adequate cooling conditions maintaining the ideal temperature and humidity of comfort for the birds. Objective: To analyze the impact of the installation of DHT11 sensors and the ESP32-WROOM microcontroller on the productive performance of ISA Brown laying hens in a farm in the city of Parintins. Theoretical Framework: In the 1970s, the Brazilian government implemented public policies to encourage agricultural modernization, promoting the intensification of the poultry sector. This period was marked by the development of commercial farms and the improvement of management practices and poultry genetics. Innovative technologies have contributed significantly to the environment, genetic improvement and expansion of meat and egg production, consolidating poultry farming as one of the pillars of national agribusiness. In addition, family farming played a fundamental role in the manufacture of eggs and meat for local supply, fostering the emergence of small farms and strengthening the rural economy. Method: This research was carried out in the following stages: (1) Literature review; (2) Identification of materials for prototype assembly; (3) Development of the prototype, using hardware and software resources; and (4) Testing, monitoring and analysis of results. In stage (1), there was a search for articles and studies in the area, with the objective of providing initial concepts to promote a better understanding of the theme. Then, step (2) consisted of identifying the materials needed for the development of the prototype, using the ESP32 microcontroller, prototyping board, DHT-11 sensor, resistor and wires for connection. Results and Discussion: Poultry farming requires attention to various types of care, including the conservation of the facilities, that is, the shelters at the ideal temperature and humidity for laying hens. The producer ensures not only the well-being of the birds, controlling the ventilation, temperature and humidity of the environment, but also the productivity and quality of the final product. When they are in a place with a temperature outside the range of the thermal comfort zone, laying hens change their behavior and metabolism to lose or maintain heat, which is a process that can cause damage even in the quality of the eggs, especially in conditions of high heat and high humidity. The data obtained showed us the variance of both temperature and humidity, which harms the posture and health of the birds. Through this study, it is possible to encourage and bring to poultry farmers a new direction for quality management. And how environmental monitoring with sensors can improve the well-being of birds and increase their productivity. By monitoring temperature and humidity conditions in real-time, producers can create a more comfortable and healthy environment for their chickens, which results in improved productive performance and higher egg quality. Egg production increased after the installation of the sensors, ranging from 8 to 11 eggs/day before installation to 12 to 15 eggs/day after. Research Implications: The practical and theoretical implications of this research are discussed, providing insights into how the results can be applied or influence practices in the field of Operations and Logistics Management (AOL). These implications can cover the areas of Operations Management, Logistics, Project Management, Information Technology Applied to Logistics, Strategic Management, Sustainability, environment and suatainability. Originality/Value: This study contributes to the literature by focusing on a strategic segment for the local economy, providing data that can positively impact the management and development of egg production. The originality of this research lies in the application of cutting-edge technology to optimize egg production, improving not only the quality and quantity of production, but also promoting sustainable and efficient practices. Innovation brings with it a significant transformation in the way farms operate, offering economic, environmental and operational benefits for egg producers. The relevance and value of this research is evidenced by the fact that research on temperature and humidity sensors not only has great potential to transform professional practice in poultry farm management, but also to boost academic research in the field of animal husbandry, automation and sustainability. Professionals can use these technologies to improve the quality of the production, reduce operating costs, promote more sustainable practices and innovate in management strategies, in addition to creating new paths for the integration of technologies on farms. Ultimately, these results have the potential to set new standards for the industry, with positive impacts for both professionals in the field and society.
