Logistics/SCM 4.0 Maturity Model Review: Opportunities For Industry 4.0 Technologies Application

Objective: The objective of this study is to systematically review maturity models (MMs) for Logistics/Supply Chain Management (SCM) 4.0, identifying the approaches used in their development and validation, as well as opportunities for applying Industry 4.0 technologies. Theoretical Framework: The study is based on concepts such as Industry 4.0, Logistics 4.0, and maturity models, exploring how technologies like IoT (Internet of Things), Big Data, and automation can be integrated to optimize supply chains. The review highlights the need for models that consider technological maturity and the resilience of logistics operations. Method: A systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted using the Scopus and Web of Science databases. Articles published in journals and conferences focusing on maturity models for Logistics/SCM 4.0 were selected. The analysis included quantitative and qualitative methods to identify trends and gaps in the literature. Results and Discussion: The results show that most existing maturity models are generic, focusing on strategic aspects of Industry 4.0, with little specific attention to Logistics/SCM 4.0. The analysis revealed a lack of models addressing the application of technologies in production logistics, as well as the need for prescriptive and predictive approaches. Research Implications: The study suggests the need to develop maturity models that integrate Industry 4.0 technologies into logistics operations, with validation in real cases. Additionally, it highlights the importance of predictive approaches, such as simulations, to anticipate impacts on supply chains. Originality/Value: This article contributes to the literature by identifying gaps in research on maturity models for Logistics/SCM 4.0 and proposing future directions for the development of more robust and applicable models.
