Application of IOT in Agriculture: Prototype for Air and Soil Moisture Monitoring in Lettuce Cultivation in Parintins

Objective: To provide an affordable and practical solution for soil moisture monitoring by incorporating Internet of Things (IoT) technologies through mobile and computer devices, enabling efficient irrigation management and promoting more effective use of water resources. Theoretical Framework: This section addresses the concepts of Agriculture 4.0 and greenhouse irrigation models involving IoT-based technological innovations. The relevance of this study provides a foundation for future models that could be implemented for small-scale vegetable producers. Method: The applied research examines a real scenario experienced by rural producers in Parintins, developing a technological practice aimed at improving lettuce cultivation and reducing production costs by implementing appropriate technologies. Qualitative methods were used for theoretical foundation, and applied research was conducted to solve existing problems. Results and Discussion: Real-time monitoring of soil moisture conditions proved to be an effective strategy for optimizing water consumption, enabling irrigation system automation based on collected data. In this context, conscious water use emerged as a central issue, creating a favorable environment for developing innovative solutions that promote minimal water resource utilization. Research Implications: The improvement in lettuce production benefited farmers, bringing cultivation enhancements. Product quality also showed evident improvements, modifying sizes and enhancing cost-benefit ratios. Originality/Value: Thus, the study's application brought significant improvements to small farmers' products, increasing customer satisfaction and production volumes, with promising prospects for the future.
