THE PHENOMENON OF AGGRESSION IN RUSSIAN STUDENTS’ LINGUISTIC CONSCIOUSNESS: A DIACHRONIC RESEARCH
The article is devoted to the study of aggression and its linguistic manifestation. The work incorporates the data of the associative experiment using the words-stimuli: “aggression”, and “conflict”. The experiments were conducted in 2008-2009 and then in 2020 and 2024 with approximately the same number of respondents. Analysis of the results of the three experiments revealed changes in associates, their stereotyping, and axiological components. In 2020, the phenomenon of aggression received a more stereotyped assessment from Russian students, compared to 2009. The analysis of the associates obtained in 2024 shows that the degree of stereotyping of women’s reactions 32 was much higher than that of men’s, with a comparable number of participants in the experiment, which confirms the relevance of taking into account the gender component in interpreting the results. The associations received in 2020 and 2024 comprise a large number of individual reactions, in particular, images (visual, audio, interactive), which can be explained by the modern Russian students’ experience of watching numerous scenes of aggression and observing the current political situation in modern media/television, due to the spread and evolution of the Internet. However, a large number of associations received in 2020 and 2024 can be correlated with verbal, rather than physical form of manifestation of aggression, which confirms the relevance of studying the phenomenon of verbal aggression. In general, the reactions obtained indicate a more important role of the individual as a communicant in the situation of aggression/conflict. However, it is quite possible that with the expansion of the number and geography of participants in the experimental study, other results may be obtained.
