O papel dos selos de inspeção na indústria da carne: Transparência e confiança
The meat industry is essential to the global economy and food supply, but faces challenges in food safety, animal welfare and sustainability. Transparency and trust are essential to ensure that consumers make informed choices. In view of this, we have inspection seals, which play a crucial role in ensuring safety and quality, and strengthening the relationship between producers and consumers, in addition to protecting public health and consumer well-being. In Brazil, the main seals include the Federal Inspection Seal (SIF), granted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA), and the State Inspection (SIE) and Municipal Inspection (SIM) seals, which regulate products in their respective jurisdictions. These seals ensure that the products meet strict health control, including the origin of the animal, processing conditions and handling practices. According to the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA), the presence of these seals indicates compliance with the quality and safety standards required by law. In addition to traditional seals, certifications such as the Brazil Green Seal Program, a voluntary initiative of the federal government, are emerging, which attest to sustainable and agroecological production practices, promoting the reduction of environmental impacts and social responsibility; this seal values not only food safety, but also environmental preservation. Another important and recent seal is the Animal Welfare Seal (Certified Humane®), which guarantees that animal products come from farms that respect the rights and well-being of animals. This certification is becoming increasingly sought after, reflecting the growing awareness of consumers on regards to the conditions in which animals are raised and processed.
