FORMATION OF A VERBAL DEFINITION OF THE ARTISTIC VALUE OF A MODERN ART OBJECT

The purpose of the article is to propose a multi-parameter verbal model of the formation of the artistic value of a modern art object (abstract or partially abstract artwork). This subject matter is of particular pertinence within the broader context of market economy, where assessments of market value for contemporary art objects are of paramount importance. It iscrucial to acknowledge that the "artistic value of an art object" constitutes a pivotal pricing factor for the market value of an art object. The article presents a new interpretation of the definition of "artistic value of an art object". Given the inherently subjective nature of the assessment conducted by the viewer (appraiser), the artistic value of an artwork is suggested to be considered as a property of an artistic image in the viewer's (appraiser's) mind; a multi-parameter verbal model of the formation of the artistic value of a modern artwork; the analysis of four modern masterpieces of painting, which confirmed the selected composition of the model's parameters. The presented verbal model will be employed in the development of a formal method of estimating the artistic value of a modern art object, which will be integrated into the previously proposed method of estimating the market value of a modern art object.
