Effect of AI-Driven Adaptive Learning Systems on English as a Foreign Language Writing Proficiency: A Mixed-Methods Study

This research aims to address the effects of using AI learning in enhancing EFL writing skills with the aid of both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. The participants were 60 EFL learners, in which 30 learners used an AI-based system that provides writing feedback while 30 learners received conventional instruction. The results were quite encouraging as the experimental group improved in grammar, vocabulary, sentence constructions and cohesiveness in writing as compared to the control group. These improvements were deemed statistically significant based on the results of the paired t-tests and backed by the qualitative data gathered through interviews, which illustrated enhanced learner activity, motivation, and self-directiveness.The study also indicates that AI-based adaptive learning systems have several advantages over conventional approaches: AI delivers timely, student-specific feedback promoting greater engagement and faster mastery of writing skills. However, the study also pointed out some possible limitations of the proposed AI system where parameters such as grammatical range appeared to be overfocused at the expense of the more complex rhetorical skills as well as exploratory argumentation and creativity, which are important areas for further research. In conclusion, this research proves
