The distribution of internal forces between members in a steel frame depends largely on the rotational stiffness of the frame joints, therefore, it is neces-sary to accurately evaluate the stiffness of steel joints and take them into account in the global struc-tural analysis. While the stiffness of beam-to-column flange connections has been the topic of many previ-ous studies, research on the stiffness of beam-to-column web end plate connections is still limited. This paper presents a study to evaluate the stiffness of beam-to-column web end plate connections using the component-based finite element method (CBFEM). The paper consists of two main parts. The first part introduces the model for analyzing the rota-tional stiffness of steel joints based on CBFEM and evaluates the reliability of the CBFEM model by comparing the numerical results with experimental results from literature. The comparison shows that the CBFEM model is capable of accurately predicting the rotational stiffness of beam-to-column web end plate connections. The next part conducts a paramet-ric study to evaluate the influence of factors such as joint configuration, plate thickness, bolt grade, and bolt diameter on the rotational stiffness of the joint.
