Ship building, renovation, modernization… What to choose?

The analysis of the critical age is given for the scientific research vessels, and in this regard the question is raised about the best choice – will it be either the building of new vessels, renovation or modernization. All options for domestic and foreign R/Vs were studied and the examples are given as well. The question posed suggests only one answer – building. However, during the construction of ships it is necessary to provide for the possibility of renovation and modernization in the future with minimal reengineering which will prolong their life for a long time.
