Music Education from the Perspective of the Cognitive and Communicative Dimensions as Components of the Integral Formation of Secondary School Students: A Documentary Analysis
Music education is recognized as a key component in the comprehensive development of secondary school students, as it enhances cognitive and communicative dimensions while fostering socio-emotional skills in educational contexts. This study examines the impact of music education on the development of socio-communicative and cognitive skills in secondary school students, aiming to identify the implications and benefits of music as a pedagogical tool. Using a qualitative approach with a bibliographic design, sources, and curricular documents were reviewed to explore the relationship between music education and students’ holistic development. The findings reveal that music education not only promotes emotional expression and inclusion in the classroom but also that sensory-perceptual stimulation through music contributes to holistic learning, enhancing competencies and critical thinking skills. Integrating music into the school curriculum is essential for developing socio-emotional skills and socio-cognitive competencies that are crucial for academic success, supporting a well-rounded education.
