Spiritual Warfare and the Politics of Conquest in the Age of Trump
This paper examines the changing role of Neocharismatic-Pentecostals (NCPs) within American politics, focusing on their involvement in Spiritual Warfare during and after Donald Trump’s presidency. NCPs have increasingly framed political and social conflicts as spiritual battles against demonic forces, believing that Spiritual Warfare is crucial for preserving American values and the church. This perspective depicts political opponents, particularly those who oppose Trump, as agents of evil, often linking them to biblical figures such as Jezebel or concepts like territorial spirits. The paper also briefly explores the intellectual origins of these ideas in the United States, highlighting influential figures like C. Peter Wagner, whose teachings on territorial spirits have shaped the NCPs’ understanding of Spiritual Warfare as a means of political and cultural conquest.
