Performance Analysis of Water Rocket
Water rockets operate on basically the same principles as liquid rocket engines, except for the combustion of propellant.Based on thermo-fluid mechanics, it is an ideal subject that can be used for system engineering education in the aerospace field, such as liquid rocket propulsion and flight dynamics. However, theoretical data on the propulsion principle and performance of water rockets are insufficient. In this study, the relationship between propulsion and flight performance of water rockets was theoretically organized using adiabatic expansion and Bernoulli's law.Based on the basic theories, the analysis of propulsion and flight performance of a water rocket was performed to track the optimal design conditions that could maximize flight altitude depending on the fill pressure and the amount of liquid propellant.
