Dynamic Dual-Function Safety Wristband: A Simulation-Driven Design for Enhancing Women’s Security and Personal Safety

In today’s world, personal safety and healthcare for women are critical concerns, particularly in remote or low-connectivity regions where traditional safety devices and medical alert systems may fail. This paper introduces a smart wristband that not only functions as a reliable distress signal transmitter in emergencies but also provides continuous health monitoring. The wristband is designed to activate distress signals even when conventional GSM networks are unavailable, utilizing the ESP-NOW protocol to relay location data through nearby devices until a stable connection is established. Key features include energy-efficient operation, a reversion window for cancelling accidental signals, and continuous GPS tracking with real-time cloud integration for seamless location sharing with preset contacts and emergency services. In addition to safety, the wristband continuously monitors vital health metrics, such as heart rate, blood oxygen levels (SpO2), and body temperature. When abnormal health readings are detected, the system automatically alerts preset contacts and emergency services enabling timely medical intervention. By combining personal safety and proactive health management in one device, this innovative solution empowers women to feel secure in their everyday lives while also receiving real-time health support. The dual functionality not only ensures that help is always within reach during physical threats but also during medical emergencies. Simulations show significant potential, and future work will focus on building a hardware prototype to bring this vital, life-saving technology to real-world application.
