lightweight identity authentication protocol for Internet of Things devices
With IoT devices’ continuous development and extension, identity authentication technology in cryptography has been widely explored. However, The current methods of identity authentication have the problem of excessive computational load when applied in the Internet of Things, and they do not perform well in resource-limited IoT devices. Therefore, this article, based on a thorough study of elliptic curve cryptography, proposes a lightweight identity authentication protocol for IoT devices based on elliptic curve cryptography. In the authentication process, the Schnorr signature mechanism is utilized on top of elliptic curve cryptography to achieve the authentication and key negotiation between the communicating parties. The protocol’s validity and security have been verified, incorporating a mechanism for random number generation and timestamp synchronization to maintain message freshness throughout sessions. This approach bolsters the authentication protocol’s resilience against replay attacks. Finally, We prove that the scheme designed in this paper is safe and effective.Additionally, a simple simulation implementation of the protocol is performed, proving the feasibility of the proposed solution even with low computational overhead.
