Analysis of the Operation of Remote Backup Protection on 110kV Overhead Lines When Connecting an Intermediate Power Source
Currently, there is a trend towards building their own generation among industrial enterprises, when owners, against the background of news about a possible shortage of capacity and an increase in the cost of electricity, are thinking about building their own generating plants. The implementation of these solutions on dead-end power transmission lines leads to problems in providing remote backup with a set of step protections on these lines. As part of this paper, the influence of connecting an intermediate power source to unsoldered transformers on measuring resistance at the protection installation site is proved. A formula has been obtained describing the effect of the rated power of an intermediate power source on the current measurement value at the protection installation site. A computational model has been created in the PSCAD software package, and a simplified algorithm for activating remote backup protection has been modeled. It was found that increasing the rated power of the intermediate power supply shifts the value of the resistance measurement to the left.
