Assessment of the Influence of Support Material on the Characteristics of the Electric Field Along an Insulator String

This article presents a comparative analysis of the influence of the support material on the characteristics of the electric field of a string of insulators. The study was carried out using modeling in the COMSOL Multiphysics software environment, where two types of support materials were considered: metal and fiberglass. The main objective of the work was to evaluate the electric field distribution and identify key differences due to different electrophysical properties of support materials. The modeling results showed that the support material has a significant effect on the electric field characteristics: the magnetic permeability of metal leads to more significant field distortions compared to the dielectric properties of fiberglass. These differences must be taken into account when designing structures in order to increase the reliability and durability of electrical systems. The data obtained can form the basis for further improvement of technological processes for the development and implementation of more efficient insulating systems in the energy sector.
