Concept of Hg2Cl2 quasi-collinear AOTF with Glan-Foucalt polarizer for LWIR operation
Acousto-optical tunable filters (AOTFs) offer superior spectral resolution in quasi-collinear configurations but are limited to wavelengths below 5 µm. Mercurous chloride (Hg<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf>Cl<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf>) extends AOTF capabilities into the LWIR range. We present a Hg<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf>Cl<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2-</inf>based quasi-collinear AOTF with a Glan-Foucault polarizer, its measurement procedure, and construction limitations.
