Non-reciprocal magnetophotonic coupled waveguides

We propose a new approach to the design of integrated optical isolators, based on coupled waveguides hybridized with a magneto-optic material. We present the basic theory, leading to isolator configurations that exhibit remarkable performance, including 20dB isolation over a bandwidth of ~35nm at telecom wavelengths.

Abstract

We propose a new approach to the design of integrated optical isolators, based on coupled waveguides hybridized with a magneto-optic material. We present the basic theory, leading to isolator configurations that exhibit remarkable performance, including 20dB isolation over a bandwidth of ~35nm at telecom wavelengths.
