Acoustic Control Methods for Detecting Defects in PU Insulation

The relevance of research in the field of acoustic methods for monitoring polyurethane (PU) insulation to detect defects is due to the need to ensure the quality and reliability of insulation in various technical systems. Acoustic inspection methods make it possible to detect defects in PU insulation by analyzing sound waves propagating in the material. Acoustic methods include: velocimetric, impedance, free oscillation method and their combinations. In the framework of the article, defective and defect-free PU foam plates were considered. Using the ANSYS software product, the harmonic response of the plate was studied using the Modal and Harmonic Response module. As a result, the oscillation amplitude of defective and defect-free plates differs significantly at a frequency of 1293.3 Hz. As a result, a graph of the response of plates with different defect sizes was obtained, as well as a comparative characteristic of the response amplitudes of defective and defect-free plates.
