Low Budget Patch Antenna Design Based on Binary Coding Using the Surrogate-Based Optimization
The paper proposes a method of synthesis of the patch antennas with a low-cost optimization budget. It describes the techniques used in decreasing the synthesis budget. The proposed approach makes it possible to synthesize antenna designs with a relatively low number of iterations and rough initial design. The paper analyzes implementation of the proposed method using the FEKO and pSeven software programs. It demonstrates the cases of synthesis of simple patch antenna at 10 GHz, dual-band patch antenna at 2.4 and 5.2 GHz and omni-directional antenna at 1.9 GHz.
