Preventive Rail Maintenance Through an Automated Undercarriage Monitoring System using a Web-based Alert Console
Railway safety is critically contingent on the mechanical integrity of undercarriage components, particularly the wheels and suspension systems. To address this, an automated undercarriage monitoring system has been developed to enhance rail operations. This system continuously monitors suspension load levels, detecting conditions that could compromise structural integrity. It also examines vibration patterns and generates preemptive alerts to prevent further deterioration. Additionally, it recognizes early indicators of mechanical failures, such as smoke emissions monitoring, allowing for timely preventive action. The system integrates a robust web-based alert console, providing real-time diagnostics, fault notifications, and actionable insights for swift decision-making. This proactive framework substantially mitigates operational risks, averts potential accidents, and ensures the seamless and efficient functionality of railway systems.
