Calibrated Full-Vector Beam Propagation Method (BPM) for Silicon Photonics

Full-Vector BPM can be calibrated by renormalizing the power to exclude any numerical loss/gain, which ensures power conservation. This approach has been automated and is readily applicable to high-index contrast waveguide structures like silicon photonics devices. It has been shown, in some cases, to be 1000x faster than FDTD with similar accuracy.

Abstract

Full-Vector BPM can be calibrated by renormalizing the power to exclude any numerical loss/gain, which ensures power conservation. This approach has been automated and is readily applicable to high-index contrast waveguide structures like silicon photonics devices. It has been shown, in some cases, to be 1000x faster than FDTD with similar accuracy.
