Abstract

We demonstrate microring resonator (MRR) optical switch using phase change material Ge<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf>Sb<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf>Te<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf>Se<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> (GSTS). With negligible optical absorption in amorphous GSTS, the MRR maintains its Q-factor after GSTS integration. Successful non-volatile switching is achieved over broad wavelength range with crystalline GSTS, enabling multi-wavelength programmable photonic circuits.
