Observation of a spiking response in ITO/silicon waveguides

The potential of a hybrid indium tin oxide-silicon device for achieving an electro-optical spiking response with potential application in neuromorphic computing is proposed. We show that a certain combination of sub-microsecond electrical pulses may fire a momentaneous increase in the optical loss of our device.

Abstract

The potential of a hybrid indium tin oxide-silicon device for achieving an electro-optical spiking response with potential application in neuromorphic computing is proposed. We show that a certain combination of sub-microsecond electrical pulses may fire a momentaneous increase in the optical loss of our device.
