Evaluating the Compatibility of Diesel Generator Sets and Uninterruptible Power Supplies on the Criterion of Voltage Harmonicity
This paper examines the joint operation of diesel generator sets and uninterruptible power supplies. It also identifies the issues that uninterruptible power supply sources introduce to the operation of diesel-generator sets. It identifies the requirements of diesel-generator sets in terms of linear voltage harmonicity distortion. It provides the parameters of a diesel-generator set, load and uninterruptible power supply, which includes a transformer, rectifier, and inverter in addition to a diesel-generator set power diagram. It calculates the harmonic component of the current and voltage harmonicity distortion factor for different capacity generators. Based on calculations, it draws conclusions regarding how generator power influences the voltage harmonicity distortion factor. It identifies the power at which the problem of harmonics is solved. Furthermore, it discovers ways to reduce the voltage harmonicity distortion in a diesel generator set circuit.
