Transient Stability Enhancement Control for SLVM-Controlled Virtual Synchronous Generators via Hybrid Integral Gain Swithcing and Active Power Compensation

This paper performs a large-signal analysis of Virtual Synchronous Generators (VSGs) with single-loop voltage magnitude (SLVM) control. Phase-portrait analysis reveals that the integral gain of SLVM affects transient stability. To address the trade-off between transient stability and steady-state performance, a hybrid control strategy combining SLVM integral gain switching and integral gain-based active power compensation is proposed. The extended equal area criterion (EEAC) is employed to analyze virtual kinetic energy variations, elucidating the mechanism by which the integral gain influences transient stability. Simulation and experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy, demonstrating improved synchronization and faster post-fault recovery.
