Automated Approach to Vascular Prostheses Preparation
The growing prevalence of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) necessitates the development of modern vascular grafts. This study aims to design an automated system for procuring next-generation biological tissue, using polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) as heat transfer fluid with potential cryoprotectant properties. The investigation carefully evaluates the feasibility of integrating automation into the complex processes of cryopreservation and decellularization, with the goal of enhancing the quality and accessibility of biological tissues in clinical settings. Through this systematic approach, the study addresses key challenges associated with tissue preparation and storage, ensuring the maintenance of stable operational parameters. The resulting optimized system streamlines cryopreservation and decellularization processes, yielding high-quality biological tissue. The proposed automated system could help mitigate the shortage of vascular prostheses needed to treat cardiovascular diseases.
