Silicon Photonic Traveling Wave Mach-Zehnder Modulators for 400G/Lane Transmitters

We demonstrate the potential of silicon photonic traveling wave Mach-Zehnder modulators for 400G/Lane transmitters. Operation at 345 Gb/s PAM6 and 414 Gb/s PAM8 were experimentally demonstrated. Simulations showed that 424 Gb/s PAM4 can also be achieved.

Abstract

We demonstrate the potential of silicon photonic traveling wave Mach-Zehnder modulators for 400G/Lane transmitters. Operation at 345 Gb/s PAM6 and 414 Gb/s PAM8 were experimentally demonstrated. Simulations showed that 424 Gb/s PAM4 can also be achieved.
