Influence of Wind Farm Integration on the Efficiency Indicators of the Existing Wind Power Complex

The paper presents a methodological support for evaluating the efficiency indicators of wind power complexes (WPC) within the Unified Energy System of Russia (UES). It is shown that when integrating new wind farms (WF), it is necessary to consider the existing WPC, the efficiency indicators of which may either increase or decrease depending on the chosen location and capacity of the new WFs. The methodology was tested on an example of the existing WPC in the South UES, considering three integration scenarios for new WFs with a total capacity of 1.4 GW. Integration of new WFs according to the proposed scenarios into the existing WPC of the South UES increases the operational capacity of the existing WPC at a 95% probability level from 5.89% to 8.6%, and reduces the coefficient of variation of the operational capacity by 8%, from 0.65 to 0.57. The asynchronous supply of wind resources improves energy quality indicators, energy generation forecasting, energy system operation and management.
