Ensuring Electromagnetic Safety of Urban Development Near Overhead Transmission Lines

The study evaluates the levels of power-frequency (PF) electric (EF) and magnetic (MF) fields generated by overhead transmission lines (OTL) in urban areas. The analysis focuses on the zones around 110 kV and 500 kV OTLs, with calculations performed for nominal load conditions. It has been determined that, in some cases, field intensities exceed the regulatory limits established in the Russian Federation but remain within international standards. A high degree of convergence between calculated and measured data confirms the reliability of the methodology. The study emphasizes the need for strict monitoring of PF EMF levels in populated areas and the combined use of computational and measurement methods to ensure electromagnetic safety. Recommendations are also provided for expanding sanitary protection zones and optimizing infrastructure design.
