Design and Analysis of a 4-bit Wallace Tree Multiplier using 180nm CMOS Technology

This paper presents the design and implementation of a 4-bit Wallace tree multiplier using Analog custom-designed blocks in GPDK 180nm. The Wallace tree multiplier serves as a fundamental digital system component for rapid arithmetic operations so this research optimizes area together with power consumption by applying Analog design principles. The proposed design system eliminates complex digital logic by using partial product generation coupled with full adders and half adders and direct propagation for partial product reduction. The use of transistor level design allows the Analog approach to minimize the silicon area and power consumed by the system while retaining computational accuracy. The designing process happens through AND gates which create partial products followed by adding efficient adder circuits for iterative reduction and completing the final addition with a simplified architecture structure. The proposed multiplier shows potential for embedded and portable applications because it creates an efficient solution which combines low power usage with reduced area needs. The multiplier is designed and verified Cadence Virtuoso tools to achieve accurate simulations and optimal layout implementations in the GPDK 180nm environment.
