Power Quality Monitoring and Controlling of Grid Integrated System

Maintaining optimal power quality is pivotal for grid-integrated systems, especially as photovoltaic (PV) energy sources become more prevalent. Study investigates integrating PV systems with Distribution Static Synchronous Compensators (STATCOM), creating a hybrid known as PV-STATCOM. This system not only provides active power through PV generation but also dynamically manages voltage stability by injecting or absorbing reactive power as needed. Advanced control mechanisms, leveraging Voltage Source Converter (VSC) technology and real-time algorithms, enable rapid adaptation to changing grid conditions, ensuring consistent voltage levels and improved power factors. The simulations illustrate the efficacy of PV-STATCOM in mitigating power fluctuations and maintaining grid resilience under various scenarios. Practical challenges such as deployment costs and integration hurdles are addressed, emphasizing the system's feasibility for broader adoption. As renewable energy continues to dominate the energy mix, solutions like PV-STATCOM are crucial for building robust, adaptable grids that can meet future energy demands while maintaining power quality and sustainability.
