Optimizing Various Aspects of D-Statcom Using Hho Algorithm for Distribution System
This paper presents a novel approach for optimizing different aspects such as the placement and size of DSTATCOM units within a distribution system utilizing the Harris Hawk Optimization algorithm. By strategically locating D-STATCOM units near consumer load centers, voltage profiles can be enhanced, and line losses mitigated. However, improper placement can detrimentally impact the distribution system, leading to reduced voltage quality and increased harmonics. Hence, optimizing the placement and size of DSTATCOM units becomes imperative prior to their integration into distribution networks. The proposed method considers voltage profile improvement and D-STATCOM capacity limitations during optimization. Utilizing the IEEE 33 bus radial distribution system, the Harris Hawk Optimization Algorithm is employed for its global convergence and computational efficiency. The objective function seeks to minimize total losses, improve voltage profiles, and adhere to D-STATCOM capacity constraints. The convincingness of the said algorithm is validated through MATLAB simulations on the IEEE 33 bus radial distribution system, demonstrating its utility in practical applications
