Performance Enhancement of Probe Fed Dielectric Resonator Antenna by Using FSS Reflector
This communication investigates pattern diversity by integrating a frequency-selective surface (FSS) with single-port probe fed cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (CDRA). The study suggests using a corner reflector based on an FSS to boost the CDRA's performance at 5.7 GHz. The design employs two FSS screens, each resonating at 5.7 GHz and placed at a 90-degree angle relative to each other, equidistance from the antenna. This setup significantly improves the gain and impedance bandwidth from 13 % to 50 %. As a result, the antenna produces more focused radiation at 5.7 GHz.
