Optimal Sizing of Off Grid Hybrid System for DC Microgrid Using Genetic Algorithm Based Approach
In this paper, optimal planning of a stand-alone hybrid system, including, photovoltaic (PV) panel, biomass generators, biogas generators and battery, has been carried out utilizing non-conventional optimization technique. The objectives chosen in this study are minimization of the overall cost of the system and minimizing the Loss of Power Supply Probability (LPSP). The same has been analyzed through three different case studies for a practical system of four villages located in the Sonipat region of Haryana in India. In the first case, loss of load probability has been optimized while no focus has been put on minimizing the cost. In Case II, the overall cost function is optimized while LPSP has been taken as a nonbinding constraint and the size of hybrid system has been worked out. In Cases I and II Genetic Algorithm (GA) has been used for solving the optimization problem. In Case III, both, loss of load probability and the overall cost are minimized for arriving at the optimal sizing of the hybrid system. Multiobjective Genetic Algorithm (MOGA) has been employed for obtaining Pareto-optimal solution for Case III. A comparative analysis has been carried out across the three cases for sizing the hybrid practical system.
