Wideband Circularly Polarized Meta-Surface based Antenna for Ka-Band 5G Automotive Applications

In the recent technological development of the high-speed network, it is mandatory to have the reliable, secure, low loss and uninterrupted connection for various use cases in automotive and commercial industry. Circular Polarization in the antennas is one of the key features to minimize the losses and establish reliable connection. This article presents the single layer compact circularly polarized (CP) patch antenna with wide band impedance bandwidth and 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth (ARBW). The proposed design exhibits 7.76 GHz of impedance bandwidth and 800 MHz of 3-dB ARBW in the Ka-band. The size of the overall design is 7 mm × 7mm × 0.5mm. Moreover, the design exhibits the peak gain of 4.79 dB and cross polarization discrimination (XPD) of around -20 dB. The proposed design is suitable for various automotive 5G applications.
